How is it July already?

This week we explore three distinctive interior design styles: modern farmhouse with its blend of rustic charm, vibrant colour schemes, offering a bold approach and coastal aesthetics, evoking the breezy ambience of the seaside.

If you would like to talk interior design styles with us contact us here...

1. Modern Farmhouse

Modern farmhouse design seamlessly merges traditional aesthetics with contemporary functionality. This style often features grooved plywood walls, which add texture and a sense of craftsmanship. Shaker cabinetry, known for its clean lines and timeless appeal, is a staple in modern farmhouse kitchens, providing a classic look that pairs well with modern appliances.

Neutral, soft colour tones dominate the modern farmhouse palette, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere. Whites, beiges, and greys are commonly used, often accented with natural wood finishes to enhance warmth and cosiness.

The emphasis is on creating a space that feels both homey and refined, where traditional elements like rustic wood beams and vintage hardware coexist harmoniously with modern touches.

2. Colourful Design

Colourful interior design embraces bold hues and vibrant patterns to create dynamic and lively spaces. This design scheme often features a mix of bright colours, such as vivid blues, sunny yellows, and rich reds, which can be used on walls, furniture, and accessories.

The goal is to inject energy and personality into a room, making it visually stimulating and cheerful. Accent pieces like throw pillows, artwork, and rugs play a crucial role in tying together the various colours and creating a cohesive look. Incorporating a colourful design scheme requires a keen eye for balance and harmony.

While the use of multiple colours can make a space feel more exciting, it's essential to avoid overwhelming the senses. This is often achieved by grounding the vibrant elements with neutral tones or using a dominant colour to anchor the room.

 3. Coastal Retreat

Coastal interior design themes evoke a serene and relaxed seaside feel. This style features a light colour palette dominated by whites, blues, and sandy beiges, reflecting the natural hues of the beach.

Natural materials like driftwood, wicker, and linen are commonly used, enhancing the organic feel of the space. Large windows and open layouts allow for plenty of natural light, creating an airy and open environment. Decorative elements often include nautical motifs such as seashells and marine life artwork.

Furniture is casual and comfortable, with slipcovered sofas, rustic wood tables, and wicker chairs being popular choices. Accessories like woven baskets and glass vases filled with beach finds further emphasise the coastal theme. The aim is to create a tranquil and inviting environment that captures the essence of seaside living.

Loving for 2024

I love seeing the shell bowls making a comeback. They offer a unique blend of natural beauty and functionality, creating a sense of calm and connection to the seaside.

Design Tip

You do not have to stick to one interior design theme. Mixing styles can create a unique and personalised space that reflects your individual taste. Blending different styles can add depth and character to your home making it truly one-of-a-kind and your own personalised paradise.
