The Weekly Edit

The design of kids’ rooms, including colour and functionality, plays a crucial role in nurturing their overall wellbeing, influencing everything from mood to creativity and even sleep quality.

We look into some gorgeous colours, incredible wallpapers, design lay-out and some creative furniture options. For more on this read our blog here..

1. Broad Themes

Creating kids' rooms with broad themes allows for versatility as children quickly outgrow specific interests. Now, this is a tricky affair. One year your little ones will be die-hard fans of Dora and the Disney princesses and then suddenly their passions have changed to Minecraft and LOL Dolls.

It is time to move beyond traditional gender-segregated colours like blue and pink, opting for sensible shades, such as soft greens or neutral tones. This way the room can adapt as the child's preferences evolve.

Utilising accents and accessories, like removable wall decals or themed bedding, adds elements of fun, creativity, and colour without committing to a permanent theme, fostering a space that can grow with the child while encouraging their imagination to flourish.

2. Whimsy Wallpaper

Wallpaper in a child's room offers an effortless way to transform the space and can be easily changed every few years as their tastes evolve.

Whether adorning all the walls or just a single feature wall, wallpaper adds personality and charm to the room. The extensive range of options, from stunning stripes to whimsical florals, vibrant rainbows, and playful dots, provides endless possibilities to tailor the room to the child's preferences and interests.

This versatile design element not only enhances the appeal of the space but also allows for flexibility and creativity in creating a nurturing environment. We have a lovely array of kids wallpapers in our showroom so please touch base today if you want some help! .

 3. Kid-zone Harmony

Designing a kids' space involves thoughtful layout considerations to foster a conducive environment for play, rest, and study. Segregating areas for play and sleep ensures distinct zones for different activities.

Incorporating toy baskets and bookshelves not only adds to the decor but also encourages children to keep their belongings organised. Study desks provide a designated space where kids can sit down and concentrate on schoolwork or creative projects.

Organised wardrobes equipped with shelves and drawers promote independence and tidiness, empowering children to take ownership of their belongings. Children often prefer warm, bright, well-lit places so make sure there is lots of natural sunlight coming in!

Loving for 2024

I have stumbled across some lovely tile murals which serve as captivating focal points, blending artistry and functionality to add charm and personality to a space.

Design Tip

When selecting artwork for your space, consider choosing pieces that evoke an emotional response or speak to your personal interests or style. Pay attention to the scale and proportion of the artwork in relation to your room and surrounding furnishings to ensure a harmonious balance.

Tips For April

It is now the perfect time to venture outdoors and view the vibrant hues of the changing leaves during walks in nature. It may be brisk, but the colours are all so pretty!
