The Weekly Edit
There's something special about shorter weeks that seem to pack in double the effort and double the magic!
Between finalizing our latest Design Detective series (can't wait to share the fascinating psychology behind why certain spaces just 'work'!) and watching Edwin hunt for his practice Easter eggs around the house (apparently hiding spots need to be 'quality tested' 😉), it's been a week of balancing work and family moments. This week's edit includes some honest thoughts about creating spaces that adapt to our family's unique rhythms, plus the exciting launch of a new series we think you'll love! Grab your hot cross bun and scroll through for some heartfelt home inspiration.
P.S. Have you noticed how teens never really outgrow the excitement of an Easter egg hunt?✨
1. Family Rhythms
After 4½ years of Edward's weekly Queenstown commute, there's something extra special about finally having unhurried family time together this Easter break. It's got me thinking about how our homes need to flex and adapt to our family's changing rhythms - whether that's creating cozy movie corners for weekend catch-ups or quiet spaces for those late night video calls. Sometimes the most meaningful design solutions come from real life moments rather than Pinterest boards!

Design tip: Next time you're planning a room, try this: Instead of starting with a mood board, spend a day noting how your family naturally moves through the space. Where do you gravitate for morning coffee? Where does everyone instinctively gather? These lived patterns often reveal the most authentic design solutions for your home.

2. Design Detective
Ever wondered why some design choices just 'work'? This week kicks off our new series uncovering the psychology behind great design! First case: The Round vs. Rectangular Table Mystery.
Did you know round tables naturally create more democratic conversations because everyone can see each other equally? But here's the plot twist - in spaces over 3.6 metres long, rectangular tables actually help ground the room and create better flow! And there's more to this mystery than meets the eye - the height-to-diameter ratio plays a fascinating role in how comfortable people feel during those long dinner conversations... Stay tuned for our deep-dive post where we'll reveal all the evidence, including the golden measurements that make or break a dining space! 😉
3. Easter Reflections
There's something special about waking up on Easter Sunday to a home filled with possibility - whether it's the scent of fresh hot cross buns, the excitement of little ones (and bigger ones - just quietly!) discovering hidden easter egg treasures (the teenagers assure me they will never be too old to hunt for chocolate!!), or simply the peace of a long weekend morning.
It's these moments that remind me why we do what we do - creating spaces where memories unfold naturally and traditions find their perfect setting. From our family to yours, wishing you an Easter Sunday filled with whatever makes your heart happiest, whether that's attending a church service, gathering around a laden lunch table or finding a quiet corner with a good book and hot coffee.

4. Katy's Mini Edit
Loving for 2025
The way the long Easter weekend break brings a different rhythm to our home - those unhurried moments where you connect with family and take some time out from the busy.
Design Tip
When creating gathering spaces, consider the 'memory spots' - those places where people naturally gravitate and stories unfold. In our home, it's the sofa by the fire where teens snuggle in for late-night chats and Edward and I sneak to for afternoon sleeps!! These organic gathering points often reveal where your home needs the most thoughtful design attention.
Excited About...
