The Weekly Edit

This week has been full of those lovely 'lightbulb moments' - from watching clients discover their unique style through our quiz, to creating cozy corners perfect for these cooling evenings. I even found myself rearranging my own bookshelf at home last night, inspired by all the beautiful transformations I've been part of lately!

Between hanging new lights in a client's hallway and watching how the afternoon sun completely transformed our latest media room project, I'm reminded how the smallest changes can make the biggest impact.

Grab your coffee and scroll through for some simple ways to refresh your space this autumn (and yes, I'll share one of my favorite styling secrets!)

P.S. Have you noticed how the autumn light changes everything? It's like nature's own interior stylist... 🍁

1. Light Layers

You know that feeling when a room just doesn't feel 'right'? Quite often it can be the lighting.

My go-to formula: three light sources at different heights.

Table lamp + floor lamp + ceiling light = magic.

I’m currently obsessing over brass finishes for that warm autumn glow. Just last week, I was helping a client who couldn't figure out why her gorgeous new sofa wasn't 'working' - it turned out all she needed was a strategically placed floor lamp to create that cozy corner we all crave as evenings get shorter.

Pro tip: try switching on your lights BEFORE sunset - it creates such a beautiful transition from day to night (and stops that jarring moment when you suddenly realize it's gotten too dark to read!).

2. Shelf Secrets

We finished styling a client's bookshelf using our 60-30-10 rule:

60% books, 30% decorative objects, 10% personal photos.

Makes such a difference between a shelf that looks 'stuffed' versus 'styled'. We spent the afternoon showing her how to group books by height (not color - controversial, I know! 😉) and create these gorgeous little 'moments' with her treasured travel finds.

My favorite trick? We left some breathing room on each shelf - that negative space is like a perfect pause in a conversation. We found the sweetest little brass elephant she'd forgotten about in a drawer and gave it pride of place - now it's not just a bookshelf, it's a story of her life.

Speaking of styling stories, what's on your weekend styling list? Drop a comment below if you'd like me to share more shelf-styling secrets next week! 📚

 3. Style Stories

You know what makes me smile? When a client takes our Interior Style Quiz and has that 'aha!' moment. During the week a client was absolutely convinced she was 'purely traditional' until the quiz revealed her love for those understated glamorous touches (hello, Modern Glam! ✨). Watching her eyes light up as she discovered how her dream holiday destinations actually reflected her perfect interior style was so fun.

Sometimes we just need a fresh perspective to see what truly resonates with us. Curious about your own style story? Take our quick quiz (promise it's fun!) and drop a '✨' in the comments for the link. Because understanding your style shouldn't be overwhelming - it should be exciting!

4. Katy's Mini Edit

Loving for 2025

Those rich autumnal wardrobe tones making their way into our interiors - chocolate velvets, plum accents, deep khaki linens and winter white layers. It's like fashion for your home! 🍂

Design Tip

Why wait for spring? Autumn is my favorite time for a deep refresh - declutter while the weather's still mild, deep clean those cozy corners, and restyle with intention. A beautifully organized home makes winter nesting so much more enjoyable! 🍂

Excited About...

Easter break adventures ahead! Already dreaming of lazy mornings with hot cross buns and chai, chocolate treats, and watching the excitement of Easter egg hunts. Time to slow down and savor these autumn moments with family (and yes even my oldest teenagers still love an easter egg hunt... 🐰)
