Cheesy Pesto Pull Apart Christmas Tree

Ingredients:

  • 1 batch of raw pizza dough (Click here for our favourite recipe)
  • Egg wash (1 egg mixed with 1 tbsp water)
  • mozzarella sticks or 200g block of mozzarella, cut into small chunks
  • 1/ 4 cup melted butter
  • 1/ 2 cup finely grated Parmesan
  • 1 tablespoon thinly sliced basil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1 large garlic clove, minced
  • 3 tbsp basil pesto
  • Pasta sauce, warmed (for serving)

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 200C and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a floured surface, divide pizza dough into two pieces. Stretch and roll each piece of dough into a long rectangle, then cut dough into 2” squares (you’ll need approximately 30 total depending how big or small you'd like your tree!)
  3. Wrap a dough square around each piece of mozzarella, forming a tightly sealed ball. Place balls seam-side down on the baking sheet in the shape of a Christmas tree (they should be slightly touching). Brush egg wash on dough balls and bake until golden for about 20 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, whisk together melted butter, parmesan, garlic, and herbs. Brush on baked pizza balls. Top with basil pesto and serve warm with marinara for dipping. Time to devour!!
