The Weekly Edit

This week we help you to make over your master bedroom and showcase an unusual colour combination of pink and green.

And because it has been an Antarctic week here in Christchurch we bring you a delicious winter warmer Mushroom Soup recipe.

1. Master Bedroom Makeover

Refreshing your master bedroom can be a rewarding way to enhance you life. Start with introducing quality linen; luxurious sheets and duvet covers not only feel delightful but also elevate the overall look of your bed. Opt for natural fabrics like cotton or linen to ensure breathability and comfort.

Next, add character to your space with artwork or family photographs. Choose pieces that resonate with your personal style and memories, whether it's a gallery wall of family moments or a statement piece of art above the bed. Lighting plays a crucial role in creating a cosy atmosphere.

Soft, warm-toned bulbs in bedside lamps or wall sconces can create a relaxing ambiance, while a statement chandelier or pendant light can add a touch of elegance. Don’t forget dimmable switches for flexibility, allowing you to adjust the lighting according to your mood and needs.

2. Pink & Green

The combination of pink and green in interiors is dynamic and refreshing. These two colours, often found together in nature, evoke a sense of harmony and balance.

Pink brings warmth and a touch of playfulness, while green adds a calming and revitalising effect. Whether it's through soft pastel shades for a subtle look or vibrant tones for a more dramatic impact, this colour duo can be used in various ways.

For instance, a pink velvet sofa paired with green botanical prints or a green accent wall complemented by blush pink accessories can make a striking statement. Incorporating pink and green into your interiors also offers versatility across different styles and rooms. By thoughtfully blending pink and green, you can create interiors that are lively, stylish, and inviting.

 3. Mushroom Soup

It has been an Antarctic week in Christchurch, with chilly winds and rainy mornings making it the perfect time to indulge in a hearty bowl of mushroom soup.

This comforting classic is not only delicious but also packed with nutrients. Mushrooms are a fantastic source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which can help boost your immune system. A steaming bowl of mushroom soup, rich in earthy flavours and creamy textures, provides warmth and nourishment, making it an ideal meal to combat the cold weather.

Soups, in general, are a wonderful choice for winter, especially with the increased prevalence of sickness. They are hydrating, easy to digest, and can be packed with vegetables, proteins, and whole grains.

Loving for 2024

I'm loving seeing the wider stripe become popular in bed linen. It gives a real Hamptons feel and I am here for it! Match the nautical stripe with crisp white sheets or natural linens.

Design Tip

To arrange pillows and cushions on your bed, place your sleeping pillows upright against the headboard, followed by European pillows. Add a few decorative throw pillows in varying shapes and textures in front, finishing with a lumbar pillow or small cushion for a balanced look.

Tips For August

Can you believe it’s August already! Remember that we have an in-house seamstress who can make cushion covers. If you want something unique feel free to come in to our showroom, choose your fabrics and go from there!
