5 Designer Tips For Creating A Stylish Home Office Oasis

24 February 2022

Working from home has taken on a new meaning.

It can be easy to let styling your home office slide to the back of your mind, but we have found that creating a workspace filled with personality and thoughtful details makes for a more productive, energised working day.

Whether you are working from home full time, or you simply want to create a space that fosters creativity, productivity and zero distractions - we have cultivated our top designer tips for styling a home office that honours both form and function. Your space should inspire you - and reflect your unique personality.

01. Thoughtful Details

A home office is a perfect place to showcase meaningful decor and add a little personality. But be careful not to go overboard – too much clutter will only clutter your mind. We love incorporating family heirlooms, memorable objects, and small mementos to bring life into your office space.

02. Add A Touch Of Green

It’s amazing how much of a big difference a small amount of greenery will make in your home! If a green thumb is not in your wheelhouse, try a faux arrangement or planter to bring texture and tone to your space.

03. Desk Duties

With any home office, one of the most important questions is: What desk should I get? Let's not forget, your desk is the key piece you’ll be doing all your work on! And when it comes to finding the right desk for your work needs, there are a lot of factors to consider—from storage to style to shape. Before you begin looking for a desk, it's important to figure out what you’ll be using your desk for. Will you be doing a lot of creative work that requires a big surface? Or do you work mostly on your laptop or computer? Consider how you need the desk to function for you.

04. Productive Lighting

Layered lighting goes a long way to set the mood for any space, especially in a home office and is often overlooked. This is especially important if your home office lacks natural light - there is nothing worse than having bright lights blaring down on your face whilst you work! Try adding a desk or table lamp to illuminate your work area and create a cozy environment that fosters both imagination as well as creation.

05. Deck The Walls

Finding artwork that speaks to you and brings inspiration is essential in styling an energising office space. Whether it’s a large statement piece or a smaller expressional piece, adding artwork is the perfect way to uplift the mood of your home office.

It’s the little things in our workplace environments that can have a big, positive impact on our lives – and artwork has a huge role to play in this! Wall art is a good solution to foster creativity, expression, and of course, artistic inspiration.
