The Weekly Edit

As the year continues to feel new and open to possibilities, it is a great time to assess both our personal priorities but also any intentions we have for our houses for 2025.

I have made a list of changes I want to get underway this year in our desperately-needing-a-renovation-home and to try and make these upgrades actually happen am trying to plan the months and weekends that I will commit to the different areas. I find the year the rolls by so jolly fast that if I am not intentional about setting aside time then we will be singing Christmas carols before I know it. I will keep you posted on our progress!

1. Palm Springs Pink

Let’s start the year off right with some Palm Springs inspiration that caught my eye for your bathroom upgrade!

This super fun bathroom features floor to ceiling, warm, pink mosaic tiles, a curved shower and a built in bath. Walnut accents in the vanity and mirror and brass tapware and handles give warmth to the overall scheme. The soft curves in the mirror, shower and basin all lend themselves to the mid-century vibe of the home and the fresh white details in the lights, grouting and styling keep the whole scheme feeling light and fun.

2. Nature Indoors

I’m trying to start out the year creating some habits around indoor and outdoor tasks around the home. If I can create a schedule of regular tasks, seasonal tasks and once-a-year tasks then I can quickly keep on top of the chores leaving me with more time for the things I would rather be doing. (Let me know if you have any great tips or schedules you follow).

One of the things I often forget about is giving my indoor plants some care and attention so that is today’s job. One of my plants is determined to grow like a light pole!! Straight up to the ceiling with no bushy side growth at all - so it is a haircut for him to try and get him to branch out (see what I did there?!) A good feed, water and possibly a re-pot for others and we are good to go. One chore down - 792 to go!!

 3. Trends???

We will chat about a few trends we see coming in the design space over the next few weeks for 2025 and beyond. Interior trends tend to move much more slowly than fashion as new builds and large renovation projects can take 1-3 years to be completed. Therefore, the design selections you make early in the project need to still be something a client loves 3 years later at completion.

Creating a home with finishes that are timeless and enduring and you will still love in 10-25 years time is really important as these decisions are generally trickier and more expensive to change (think benchtops, joinery, cladding). Furniture and styling items however can be changed and swapped out more quickly as tastes develop and trends come and go that you can lean into or take aspects of to showcase in your home.

4. Katy's Mini Edit

Loving for 2025

Although the weather has not been kind to us this summer to date I can’t help but want a gorgeous outdoor umbrella from Basil Bangs. Such cute colour combinations and matching accessories - come on sun...work with us here!

Design Tip

If you are wanting to make some decor changes in your room the best place to start is a full declutter so you can see the ‘bones’ of the space.

Excited About...

We have some exciting projects coming up this year which we are all looking forward to being involved with. Watch this space as we take you on the journey with us!
